Close up of Gloria

So.. I had some huge issues with time management and this dress. Sadly, it was due today and I wasn't happy with the result. I do however like the gold metallic thread top stitching that I decided to add to my petal appliques. (Here's a close up of the layered petals)

I'm going to be spending my weekend nights redoing this lady so that I am happy enough with it to show at Mass Exodus- wish me luck!

The Making of Cecelia- Look #1

It's always a bit tough to get back into the swing of things when a new and daunting semester begins. You find yourself doing anything but what you should be doing... like writing a blog solely for your close friends and family. So, starting this dress has been a long and drawn out process.

Also, I'm using the fabric I chose to do the majority of my collection for the first time. There's been hissy fits and maybe a few curse words as I have been fighting with the stain attracting, slippy, and easily fraying fabric. Hopefully I will be a master of rayon blended crepe and silk chiffon once this collection is over and done with.

Suffice to say, I've been singing this song to myself as I've been fighting with every single step of making this gown.

It's kind of funny that with all the pins, scissors, tracing wheels, and other seemingly terrifying torturing devices I only manage to burn my hands... all the time.
First injury of the semester... iron/steam on the thumb. ouch!

The Details

I MADE TAGS!

I just taped up some cotton sateen fabric to a piece of cardstock and held my breath as it went through Jamie's printer last night. Sooo happy it worked and that I didn't break the machine. Three cheers to saving cash!

The Final Collection

Inspiration spread in my Stylebook
It is the beginning of the end! The last semester, the final project... the final frontier.

I will be killing myself over sewing together a 5 look bridal collection over the next 3 months in hopes to make it into the industry show for Mass Exodus on April 11th. It is a destination style collection for the fashionable and budget conscious bride. Inspired by the leading ladies of F. Scott Fitzgerald novels... Cecelia, Gloria, Rosalind, Rosemary, and Daisy (my names for each style of gown) will be hand crafted in my teensy Toronto bedroom par moi-meme!
